Hello

My name is Sharlene MacLennan, BSW, MSW, RSW (she/her), and I am a registered Social Worker with over ten years of clinical experience.  I have worked in outpatient, hospital, and community mental health settings.  I have extensive experience working with adults, adolescents, families, and caregivers experiencing mental health concerns, substance use dependence, and behavioral conditions and crises.

I have advanced clinical training in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Prolonged Exposure (for PTSD), and training in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (for OCD), Mindfulness, and Motivational Interviewing (MI). I believe that maintaining professional competency is important and that providing good care means providing evidence-based care.

You can expect me to bring compassion, warmth, and often a little humor to our work together.  I understand that establishing a collaborative therapeutic relationship is paramount, and will take time to adequately assess and understand the unique challenges, strengths, and goals you and your family will bring to therapy in order to establish a treatment plan.

Outside of my professional and clinical work, I believe in practicing what I preach when parenting four of the best kids in town!  I love baking, traveling, listening to podcasts, theatre, and spending time with family and friends.
